Biography
Jerry Allen was dubbed "the art kid" from his earlier days in elementary school. His ability to capture intimate details of his surroundings brought on the attention of his classmates and elders throughout his school years, landing him a prestigious spot at the Chattanooga School for the Arts where his talents were further honed.The young Mr. Allen was regularly asked to create the scenic backdrops for theater productions and humbly agreed to give forth his intricate talents for the benefit of others hoping to give friends or loved one's a unique and personal gift of his diverse artwork. From local landscapes to detailed family portraits, Mr. Allen produced results that appeased his appetite for art while, at the same time, delighted the eyes of many that were the benefactors of his craft.
Since his school days, Mr. Allen has masterfully captured a variety of subjects in the great depths of his acclaimed artworks. His skillfully adept hand in his most famous charcoals of Jazz's legendary artists show not only motion, luminosity and passion, but also relay the sense that each musician's instrument is an organic extension of the body. His swift brush in his most sought-after landscapes encapsulate the epitome of the idealistic day in some of the most notable landmark areas. And Mr. Allen's constant eye seems to perfectly capture the most realistic of natures in each and every one of the animated subjects in his portrait work. Regardless of the medium or the subject matter, his work is – in a word – sublime.
Mr. Allen still resides in Chattanooga with his wife, Courtney, and four children. In addition to his displays in local galleries and national art shows, he also conducts art workshops for children and teaches private art classes.
