A Word About Monitors and Colors:
I have noticed, when looking at a variety of monitors, that colors in my images look quite different depending on the type of monitor and the settings. Greens, in particular seem to shift the most and they are usually greener than the original artwork and what I see on my monitor. I have noticed this same kind of thing in books on famous artists such as Monet, that by viewing the same picture of a painting in two different books, there will be difference in colors and even sometimes brilliance. It's important for all viewers to know that when we artists post a piece of artwork on the internet that we're merely giving viewers an idea of what the piece looks like. There is really no substitute for seeing artwork in person and that most of the time, what you see in person, far exceeds what you see in a book or the internet.

Biography
Having studied art as a youth and young adult, Kim's goal was to become an artist. Pursuing her degree in Art History at the University of California at Santa Barbara, Kim unexpectedly launched her career in accounting and database development while working at a part-time office job. Always regretting her departure from the art world, in 2004, Kim came full circle; her art career was reborn.Although Kim had previous training in art, too much time had elapsed since she had created any artwork and she realized the need for re-training. Kim enrolled in art classes focusing on drawing and pastels at the local community college, the Art Student League of Denver and attended several pastel workshops focusing on plein air techniques.
Within a year, Kim expanded her skills to include working with oils. After studying several artists' palette knife works, Kim enrolled in a private workshop focusing on oil painting with a palette knife. Kim loves the texture she can create with a palette knife; it has become her primary oil painting tool.
Kim's main subject matter depicts her love of nature and the places she has been. By experimenting with a variety of different colors and textures, she adds her own interpretation and feelings towards what she is viewing. While nature is Kim's focus, she also enjoys painting buildings, pet portraits and wildlife.
Kim is a member of Plein Air Artists Colorado and the Pastel Society of Colorado.
Kyle is Kim's son. From a very young age, Kyle exhibited an interest and talent in art. Kyle's art training began in grade school and continued in the form of Graphic Arts training at Platt College in Aurora, Colorado. At Platt, his illustration skills were strenghened but Kyle soon discovered that he was not suited to the rigid demands of Graphic Design. He continues developing his fine art skills producing amazing works in graphite and colored pencil.
