Page 38.........The most arresting works, however were the red impasto abstract paintings by Carrie Lee Allbritton. Particularly, Miner's Gold was a visually dynamic field of layered paint that created dimensions and texture. The color palette gradated from a dark mahogany to a deep red and eventually, a scorching orange. The left of the painting was dramatically interrupted with a single and shockingly bright-yellow linear splatter.

Biography
Abstract Painting CollectionAfter spending years in the corporate world, Carrie Lee Allbritton returned to her first love with a passion and dedicated herself to making art through painting. Allbritton has spentyears studying art and the use of color through workshops with national artists and her extensive library. Basically self taught, she has surrounded herself with the influences of the masters of abstract/non-objective fine art. Her work reflects her passion for life and love of all things beautiful. Each of her paintings are created with the intent of capturing the mysteries of life and our planet. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas and now lives just north of Houston.
With a growing list of dedicated collectors, Carrie Lee follows her own intuition to create canvases of remarkable sophistication and mystery. Her viewer is pulled toward the painting as they find veiled images within the layers of paint and textures she uses so expertly.
From the beginning, the use of pure intense color will direct and motivate the artist. At some point, her years of experience, technique and intuition will take over to bring the canvas to fruition. She prefers the fast, expressionistic stokes, occasionally working collage and "found" objects into the painting. Often she impresses patterns into wet paint, or draws or scratches into the painting. She even throws or slings paint at the canvas.
The artist succeeds in the expression of mystery, exuberance and elusiveness into which each viewer brings his own experience and reality.
FUNNY FLOWER COLLECTION
The artist has just added a new collection to this website. It certainly shows her diverse interest when it comes to her artwork. These paintings are fun, colorful, and decorative. Many are done on gallery wrapped canvas and many are watercolor paintings. They speak to the lighter side of life, and shows Carrie Lee's zest for life and enjoyment of pure color. All are abstracted just a little, but still recognizable as fun still life paintings.
This collection will be updated on a regular basis, so check it often.
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTIST - BY THE ARTIST
One of the great pleasures of my life is teaching others how to express themselves by doing abstract painting. I am working right now to schedule workshops around the Houston, Texas area, and the Texas Hill Country. I will also teach anywhere else where there is an art group interested in my work. If you know of a group or you are part of a group that would be interested in an abstract/realism workshop please let me know.
I will post a schedule by the end of October 07. Should you be interested in taking one of these workshops please contact me as soon as one is posted, since they fill up fast. I am a very hands on instructor, working individually with each student to be sure they understand the use of the medium, techniques and application. The 2007 workshops will be based on using abstraction with realism, along with some of my brand new techniques and secrets. I have been told that students look forward to my handouts each year, building their own "All About Abstraction and the acrylic medium"
booklets.
This website can now accept payment with PayPal and I can take credit cards and bank checks. This all makes it easier for you to purchase one of my fine art pieces.
PAYPAL DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY NOTIFY ME OF A PURCHASE - SO PLEASE EMAIL ME ASAP WITH YOUR SHIPPING INFORMATION ETC. THANK YOU
I now have a Blog as part of this website, when you sign up for emails you will receive updates, when new paintings are added and when I put a painting "on sale", which I will do from time to time.

All of Carrie Lee’s techniques work equally well on paper, illustration board or canvas
Carrie Lee Allbritton is an enthusiastic and energetic teacher who holds nothing back. Her students come away with a new understanding of their own creativity and how to express it using innovative tools, techniques, mediums and paint application.
You will be learning to add realism to abstracted background, as well as creating the fully abstracted painting. Please check out AllbrittonArt.com to see her compete collection of paintings.
Learn through this fast paced workshop:
Painting on newly created surfaces
Glazing techniques, including transparent and opaque
Personal, exciting and dramatic effects are created using gel-mediums, gesso, papers, and more.
Carving your own personal "stamps"
Creating painted papers for dramatic collages, and additions to your paintings.
You will also be making objects de art using a clay like material to add to your paintings and collages.
Strong emphasis will be placed on self-expression, creativity, and design, design, design.
You also will be using new and fun instruments which will be available at the workshop. You will just love these techniques.
You will learn how to build texture on your support before you paint on it. This will add even more drama and importance to your work.
If you are like me, you have all kinds of supplies. Bring what you have 'cause we may need them!
Acrylic "type" or old brushes - I prefer watercolor brushes from 1 inch flats to 3 inch flats. Your brushes need to be the type that hold liquid, not oil painting brushes.
Large water containers (I mean large as in 1/2 gallon ice cream size)
Acrylic type pallet - trays - just something to put your paint on. Freezer paper works great.
Rags galore
Paper towels
Newspaper or plastic to cover floor in your work area
Alcohol - the rubbing king - 91 proof at least - Walgreen's has this.
Collage papers - anything from paper bags to tissue paper )not the printed or colored tissue papers - they FADE)
Spray Bottles
Pencils - chalk - the kids stuff
Old "unsuccessful" watercolor/acrylic paintings on paper.
White Gesso "I like Jerry's Artarama or Utreach brand of gesso because it has "body" and is great for texturing. You want the type with "body" for creating texture, not the juicy kind. You can get these on-line.
Gel Medium - either matt or gloss - Liqutex Brand is good and available at Hobby Lobby.
Art Crayons, colored pencils, pastels - if you have them.
A small piece of either Speedball or Staedtler Master Carve Artist Carving Block - Available at Hobby Lobby or on-line.
Also bring resource material - pictures of landscapes - abstract paintings, still lifes.
I enjoy working large - so if you have large canvases or want to work "full" sheet or bigger please plan to do so.
Liquitex-soft body acrylic paint -THIS IS IN A JAR NOT A TUBE
Hobby Lobby has small jars of Liquitex and Van Gogh soft body paints. Jerry's Artarama has the larger sizes. Just remember that if you are working big, you will need the larger jars of paint. The primary colors are all you need, unless you already have these "types" of paint in other colors. Bring the colors you like to work with.
Tube acrylic -primary colors - or your favorite colors - as many as you like. Metallics, etc, are fun and interesting. IF YOU HAVE THEM - IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO PURCHASE THESE FOR THE CLASS.
THEGALLERY WRAPPED CANVASES ARE NICE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE TO BE FRAMED. ANYTHING WORKED ON PAPER OR ILLUSTRATION BOARD SHOULD BE MATTED AND FRAMED UNDER GLASS.
Matt Medium as a glue - Liquitex Brand is good and available at Hobby Lobby.
Scissors and ruler.
I also have many texturing tools to experiment with. But bring anything you can use for texturing.
The first day we will texture our surfaces, Some of these techniques require overnight drying. So have on hand canvases or paper to work on while these are drying.
Also if you have one, bring a small fan to help in the drying of our paintings. Acrylic drys fast, but the fans help speed it up so we can keep working.
Please check my website, category Workshops for updates to the supply list before the workshop.
The first day of the workshop we will use watercolor paper to paint and distress using many techniques to create your own personal papers to make an abstract collage painting. We will also texture surfaces using many techniques.
The second day you will create a totally abstracted painting.
And the third day you will learn to apply paint without the use of a paintbrush.
Please come with an open mind and a "What If" attitude and you leave with the ability to create great abstract/Experimental art.
I can't wait to share with all of you the wonders of experimental, abstract/non-objective painting.
